The Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs (AFVBC) are community-based gatherings designed to bring together veterans and serving members of the armed forces in a relaxed, informal setting. These clubs aim to foster camaraderie, provide mutual support, and combat the isolation that some veterans may experience after service.

What Is AFVBC?

AFVBCs are free to attend and open to all veterans and serving personnel, regardless of age, service branch, or length of service. They typically meet weekly or monthly at local cafés or community venues, offering a chance to share stories, enjoy a meal, and reconnect with the military community.

The primary mission is to create a welcoming space where veterans can support each other, helping to address issues like loneliness and mental health challenges. Many clubs also organise additional social events, such as Sunday lunches and seasonal gatherings.

Only veterans really understand veterans.

Keeping in touch with like-minded people is important when you become a civilian. Our regular local breakfast meetings give you a chance to meet new and old friends, exchange dits, plan visits, share problems and feel at home with people like you. If it’s a fight to understand civilian life, we’re all here to help you win. Return to the tribe!

Broadbridge Heath Netball group is a friendly non-league group for ladies over the age of 16 wishing to play netball for fun. It's ideal for players returning to the sport or unable to commit to competitive league netball. We also welcome players new to the game.

We play weekly year round on Thursday nights at 8pm at Collyers College, Hurst Road, Horsham (outdoor courts).

The group is non profit making and costs £4 per session of £15 per month.

Forest Badminton Club is looking for new members. We are a friendly club based in Horsham with a club night on Sunday evenings. Whilst we cannot take beginners, we have a number of members who just play for fun as well as league players and those who represent Sussex at various levels. So if you played in days gone by and are looking to start again or just moved into the area then we could be for you. Do you play badminton with plastic shuttles and want to step up to feathers? Play regularly with friends but want to mix with experienced players who can offer tips for improvement? Maybe you are just looking to meet new people and join a club with an active social side.

Did you know that you can join our club at any time of the year? You can also come for a free trial session to see if the club is right for you (and thereafter up to five more times for a £7/session visitors fee).

The Horsham Arts Society runs monthly lectures on a wide range of art-related subjects. Our speakers are all recognised experts in their field.

Guests are always welcome at our lectures for a small charge of £8 per lecture - which is refundable if you decide to join our society after the meeting!

In addition to lectures, we organise a programme of exciting visits to places of historic and artistic interest across London and the South-East.

We are a long established athletics club based at the Broadbridge Heath race track, The Bridge Leisure Centre, RH12 3YS.

We cater for all age groups, boys and girls, 10+ upwards and cover both track and field events. Training sessions are on Monday and Wednesday evenings and we compete in athletic events against other clubs with track competitions in the summer and cross-country and sports hall athletics in the winter.

Newcomers always welcome.

We are a long established popular bridge club in Horsham with daytime and evening sessions for different abilities at our East Street premises and online.

Visitors and new members very welcome and we can find you a partner if you don't have one.

Our English Bridge Union trained enthusiastic teachers run classes at all levels.

The Horsham Chess Club meets in the Cornerstone Methodist Church lounge just off Albion Way in central Horsham. The postcode is RH12 1AN.

The club night is on Tuesday evenings, except for our summer break in July and August. Junior chess club runs from 6.25pm-7.25pm and the adults then take over from 7.30pm-11pm. Post-match analysis is often in the Malt Shovel just over the road (not for junior members though...)!

Horsham DKW Karate Club is a friendly club that welcome's member's from 8 to 80+. We train at Kingslea School off King's Road, Horsham.

Wednesday 7.00-8.30pm – This is a general training session for all grades and ages (8 yrs old and above). Wednesday 8.30-9.00pm – This is an extended session for higher grades / older students.

The local Horsham Dog Walking Group, have been organising local group walks totally free of charge since 2012.

All ages welcome, singles, families, couples, everyones welcome as long as you and your little mate get on great with all others.

Great fun for the dogs and the humans. Loads of great walks through open countryside and woodlands. Walking and talking is always good for us physically and mentally.

Our aim at the Horsham Hawks Basketball club is to develop grassroots basketball and help a diverse range of players reach their full potential. Many of our players are beginners, and we hope to instill a love for the game of basketball in everyone at our club. We want to get more children involved in basketball in Horsham and surrounding areas because of the fun and competitive team environment it offers.

Over the years we have had many players make teams such as Sussex County Team, South East England Team and even the Great Britain Team.

Horsham Hawks also has an amazing social aspect! We are a community of basketball players and supporters, with links to local schools, councils and organisations.

Horsham Hockey Club has been part of the local community for decades, offering a fun, friendly, and inclusive environment for players of all abilities. Horsham Joggers is a friendly, inclusive, and supportive running club for runners of all abilities and interests.

An inclusive club to provide affordable membership that gives access to running opportunities and challenges at a wide range of ability levels in a friendly, safe and supportive environment.

Whether you just want a gentle 5k run with friends or competitive running including 10k, Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra Marathon distances, Horsham Joggers has something for you.

Our regular club nights, meeting at The Bridge Leisure Centre, Broadbridge Heath, are Tuesdays at 7pm for groups runs. On Thursdays, the meeting is at 6.30pm at The Bridge for Coached Track sessions and different locations for other coached training on Thursdays. Check our calendar to see what’s happening each week.

Our group runs vary in ability and distance from 5k at a gentle 13 min per mile pace up to 8 miles at 7 min per mile pace and include road and trail routes. There will always be someone to run with. We also provide group training runs on Sunday mornings and informal runs on Thursday evenings.

You can try bowls for free! We have free taster sessions, every Monday 6.30pm–8pm, every Tuesday 10am-12 mid-day, Saturdays 11am-1pm. A fun, gentle introduction to this social game, in the delightful setting of Horsham Park – next to the tennis courts. No experience or equipment needed. ‘Try before you buy’.

Our members of the Horsham Photographic Society come from a broad section of society including nurses, office staff, laboratory workers, ex teachers, warehouse workers, and others from the wider community.

We are open to photographers, over 18, of all abilities. Meetings comprise a mixture of competitions, lectures, social and educational evenings and a number of outings. We also have a dedicated Natural History Group that meets once a month at the Warnham Nature Reserve, and in the summer months, weather permitting, we try to get out and practice our skills on local wildlife. Help and assistance on improving your photography is always available. Basically, something for everyone!

Whatever your level of skill or experience come along for an evening or two to see what we have to offer. We meet every other Wednesday throughout the year, 7.45pm to 10.00pm and have a refreshment break so you have an opportunity to get to know people.

Potential new members may attend 3 meetings prior to making any commitment to join, we believe that once you have been to these three meetings you will want to join.

You will always be sure of a warm welcome, so come along and judge for yourself.

We are a group of pickleball enthusiasts who love playing pickleball in Horsham and would like to see it grow. We welcome adult players at all skill levels.

We play pickleball at Bluecoat Sports Health & Fitness Club in Horsham. They offer "Social Pickleball" Mondays and Fridays 11.30am to 1.30pm. If interested, you'd need to call ahead to prebook a spot. They have a pay-as-you-go option.

Additionally, we manage Horsham Pickleball Club using an App called Spond. Bluecoat members book courts on various days/times throughout the week and weekend (subject to availability). We post it on Spond and invite players to play. They have the opportunity to accept or decline the invitation. We also post useful information about pickleball in general and about local leagues, tournaments and festivals.

We have an International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) licensed coach who is available to provide private or group lessons. For more information, just call the number further below.

Horsham Scottish Country Dancing Club dances at the Millennium Hall, Roffey, RH12 4DT every Monday 7.30 to 9.30pm from September to May. There is a car park behind the hall.

We welcome new members to our friendly club that has been in Horsham for over 60 years - no need to bring a partner as we change partners every dance. All you need is a pair of soft shoes to start with. We charge £3 for the evening. Country dancing isn't to be confused with Highland dancing and swords! It's all about team work, a good way of keeping fit and enjoying a social evening.

A friendly club for those interested in wildlife & natural world photography. Our aim is to provide a forum and meeting place for those especially interested in both photography and the natural world, be this taking photographs themselves or just seeing and hearing about the work and experiences of others. you don't even need to own a camera to join.

We hold one yearly competition & our other meetings are a mix of member presentations & external speakers.

Our monthly meetings are held at 8pm on the last Thursday of each month (except December) at Warnham Nature Reserve (RH12 2RA). All abilities welcome.

Usually, the choir performs throughout the year in various venues around West Sussex and Surrey, entertaining folk at retirement homes, care homes, nursing homes, community centres and at special concerts to promote charities and raise money for them.

The Probus Club of Horsham Arun Forest is a social club for retired or semi-retired professional and business men living in the Horsham and surrounding area.

We hold monthly meetings at the Horsham Sports Club in Cricketfield Road with guest speakers.

Our members and partners can enjoy a full programme of events and activities which include walks, bowls, skittles, coffee mornings, pub lunches and coach trips.

Southwater Bowls Club play on the green next to The Ghyll, Southwater and we welcome any level of bowler from beginner to experienced.

Not sure if you will enjoy it? Come along wearing flat soled shoes and give it a go any Wednesday evening from 6.30pm and any Saturday morning between 10.00am to mid-day through the summer. Everyone is entitled to 3 free sessions.

Short mat bowls is played all year in the Lardner Room at The Ghyll on Tuesday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm. If you wish to try this we would love to see you.

Tanbridge Badminton Club has been running for over 40 years. We originally started playing at the old Tanbridge House School in Worthing Road as a result of a group of people attending a badminton evening class. The class decided they would like to keep playing together so formed a club. The members have of course changed since the Club’s inception but our aim is still to have a fun evening and we remain a non-league friendly club. Tanbridge House School was moved to a new site and the original buildings redeveloped which resulted in our move to a new location, namely Forest School - hence the name of the club.

We are always open to new adult members of any experience and we often welcome players who have played some years ago and wish to start up again. We play most Friday evenings at The Forest School in Comptons Lane, Horsham from 7.45pm until 9.45pm

The Tapestry Day Club is a charity offering day support for people with early-stage dementia and respite for their carers in the Horsham area.

They provide weekly club days for small groups in their hosts’ homes where activites and a home cooked meal can be enjoyed. The service aims to reduce social isolation and anxiety while offering support and respite.
