Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy based on the discovery that there
are points on the feet and hands which correspond to organs and systems of the
body. In reflexology, by using special pressure techniques to stimulate the
points on the feet and hands, imbalances in other parts of the body can
be
detected and effectively treated to restore balance and well being.
Reflexology does not diagnose diseases nor attempt to cure specific medical conditions. Its aim is to encourage the body to heal itself and ultimately for the receiver to feel more balanced and therefore healthy in mind, body and spirit.
Some benefits of reflexology:
- Relieves stress and tension
- Improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage
- Stimulates the flow of nerve energy in the body which enhances energy and vitality
- Helps the body to heal itself and achieve total balance
- Helps with conditions such as: dermatitis, asthma, sinusitis, arthritis, insomnia, stress and anxiety, constipation and diarrhoea, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), backache and muscular tension, sciatica, menstrual problems and the menopause, headaches and migraines, blood pressure problems, hayfever and rhinitis, colds and flu and many more.
Reflexology, or zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving the physical act of applying pressure to the feet, hands, or ears with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on what reflexologists claim to be a system of zones and reflex areas that they say reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body.
A unifying theme among reflexologists is the idea that areas on the foot correspond to areas of
the body, and that by manipulating these, a persons health can be improved.
Reflexologists divide the body into ten equal vertical zones, five on the right and five on the left.
The Reflexology Association of Canada defines reflexology as: "A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, creams or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body."
We are very pleased and proud to fully recommend a great reflexologist in Horsham, by the name of Jacky Newnham and here are her words:
I am a fully qualified mobile reflexologist practising in and around the Horsham area.
Reflexology is relaxing and uplifting. It is a gentle form of natural healing and involves massaging the reflex areas on the feet that correspond to various parts of the body. This in turn, helps with healing the whole body and also specific areas that need to be supported.
It can help revitalise and balance the body by creating harmony within and can
also help ease aches and pains by relaxing the muscles. It helps stimulate the blood and
lympthatic circulation, therefore boosting energy levels.
If you would like a wonderful treatment in the privacy of your own home where you can gently fall asleep afterwards if you wish, please give me a call at your convenience. My rates are extremely competitive and at the end of the day, you are worth it.
I also offer Reiki and Massage if you prefer and am fully qualified in these areas as well.
